About the event
A Spectacular Concert – Symphony in a Day
Join us for a very special and informal concert as Symphony in a Day brings together two remarkable works, performed by talented musicians who have come together for just one day to make this music happen.
We begin with Fanny Mendelssohn’s Overture in C Major – a beautiful and rarely performed work. Hearing it live is a real treat and offers a wonderful opportunity to discover the music of a composer whose work deserves to be heard far more often.
We then turn to Felix Mendelssohn’s Symphony No. 1, an astonishing work composed when Felix was just 15 years old. The maturity, energy and brilliance of this music are remarkable, and it is extraordinary to think that such a substantial symphony came from a composer so young.
